I think it is great that you are looking for a place to get started in diving. Diving is such a fantastic sport - I think you will really enjoy it. I'm not very familar with teams in New York, but here is a few you could try. If none of these work, try looking on swim.com under teams - there are several diving teams listed that would be a good resource for you.
